SportingNews.com and Valvoline Engine Guarantee Team on Preseason Fan Poll

SportingNews.comValvoline£ and SportingNews.com announced the launch of the Sporting News Fan Poll backed by the Valvoline Engine Guarantee. The poll – which opened to entries July 13 and runs through August 31 – allows fans to vote on their college football preseason top 25 for head-to-head comparison with expert predictions and mainstream media-generated polls.

College football fans’ unbridled passion often translates to constant tracking of their favorite teams before, during and after the season. They are up-to-speed on the make-up of their alma mater’s squads – not to mention their opponents and rivals – oftentimes making them just as equipped as the pundits to make accurate predictions on what should happen each season.

History has shown that the end-of-season rankings often reflect that the experts’ preseason rankings were far from guaranteed. Now, Valvoline and SportingNews.com are helping shine the spotlight on the fans – the true "experts" – to prove they know what should happen this coming season.

"The Sporting News Fan Poll backed by the Valvoline Engine Guarantee is a place for the truly devoted to show off their deep college football knowledge. We’re excited to help provide a stage for fans to contend with traditional media polls and talking heads and see which guarantees really hold up when all is said and done," said Peter Demko, Director of Marketing, Global Brands at Valvoline.

United States and Mexico Announce Safe, Secure Cross-Border Trucking Program

USA / MEXICOU.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and the head of the Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes, Dionisio Arturo Pèrez-Jàcome Friscione, joined in Mexico City to sign agreements resolving the dispute over long-haul, cross-border trucking services between the United States and Mexico.

The new program puts safety first and paves the way for Mexico to lift tariffs it imposed more than two years ago. Pursuant to an agreement signed by the United States Trade Representative and the Secretaría de Economía of the United Mexican States, Mexico will soon lift retaliatory tariffs on more than $2 billion in U.S. manufactured goods and agricultural products, providing opportunities to increase U.S. exports to Mexico and expanding job creation in the U.S.

The agreement also provides that Mexico will suspend 50 percent of the retaliatory tariffs by July 16. Mexico will suspend the remainder of the tariffs by July 11 of the first Mexican trucking company receiving its U.S. operating authority. As a result, Mexican tariffs that now range from five to 25 percent on an array of U.S. agricultural and industrial products such as apples, certain pork products, and personal care products would be immediately cut in half and will disappear entirely within a few months.
